Violence Against Women
Violence against women is deep-rooted in our culture and society. This starts with FGM, then leads to girls and wives being battered and not to forget sexual abuse by partners. Unfortunately, I am one of the millions who had FGM done when I was young, but I don't know when exactly it was performed or even what they cut off; clit, labia or both. When I asked my mum these questions, she answered "I don't know. Go ask your dad". I can't ask Dad as he is dead.
As well as that, it's common that when children misbehave, parents beat or even bash them to instruct them. Girls have the lion's share of this bad treatment as people think girls should be under control; otherwise, they might bring shame on their families.
As for women who are married, they are more vulnerable. Husbands can force their wives to leave their jobs to be dedicated to their homes and children. I even know men that also prevent their women from meeting their friends and their own family members. If a husband asks for sex, his wife can't reject as it's said in Islam that the woman who doesn't fulfill her husband's sexual desire at night, will be cursed by angels until the morning.
Women are like a property of others. They don't own their life, they can't make decisions to do with their present or their future. Everyone is involved in an aspect or another of their destiny. Women live in hell on earth.
