Ramses station fire
A few days ago, there was an accident in the Ramses Railway Station in Cairo. 25 people died and another 40 were injured. A fire broke out when a train crashed into a fuel tank.
Every now and then, a transport accident occurs. Egypt has the deadliest record of train accidents, and I believe it's the worst for transport accidents, in general, as well. The government's reports stated there were 14,349 train accidents between 2005 and 2017.
I can't forget the accident of 2002. A fire spread in an overcrowded train which was on its way to upper Egypt. The number of dead was 370. Although I was just 12 years old, I can still recall the photo of somebody who was trying to escape the fire through the train's window but they got burnt to death. I thought, "That might have happened to me", as I go through the station twice every time I go out. If an explosion goes off, there is a big probability to be a casualty. The feeling that captures me these days, is that I'll witness one disaster after another until it's my turn to die in one of them.
